Patrick O’Neill began his career as an engineer with the US Smelting, Refining & Mining Company in Fairbanks, Alaska.  He worked for the company from 1935-1953, with a break from 1941-1946 to serve as a pilot in the US Air force.

Patrick left the company in 1953 to work as chief engineer at the South American Gold and Platinum Company in Columbia.  For the next 30 years, he served as senior executive for numerous mining companies located throughout the world.  In 1982, he became an independent mining consultant until his retirement in 2005.

Patrick has served on numerous civic and professional organizations.  During his tenure at Joslin, he served as Board Chair and Chair of the Committee overseeing the construction of the Howard F. Root wing of Joslin.

Patrick received his BS, BME and EM degrees from the University of Alaska and later received an honorary Doctor of Science degree.
